I worked at the Department of Public Health on outbreak investigations the first year of COVID. It was frustrating because there was limited commitment toward education, even less on encouraging early available treatments like monoclonal antibodies and a complete lack of resilience to adapt. The goal was to gather information and to control what was happening. The data collected was inaccurate based upon the archaic computer system. When the vaccines were released it was all about pushing them. No one was concerned about AE or the breakthrough infections we started to see as early as March. That’s when I left. I am a doc with a public health degree. Lena Wen is an extreme control freak. There are lots of them in public health. It is not the job of public health to control. It is our job to educate and equitably distribute information and public goods so people are empowered not overpowered. Public health did none of this during this pandemic and those of us with long memories will remind them if overreach occurs again.

Eileen, thanks for popping over to read and comment. What a sad world we live in when knowledgeable people like yourself who actually want to help the public are not allowed to. I would rather have you and others like you in charge of public health than this current crop.
