To Be of Service to the Cause...
The weekend of September 12-13, 2009, I will walk 39 miles for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, in order to raise money and awareness about the disease. Aside from the goal of getting myself into much-needed shape, it has become a personal mission. Two people who I love dearly have been gravely affected by Breast Cancer. My mother in law, a 15-year survivor, is possibly facing a recurrence, after years of being cancer-free. And my dear friend Rebecca, a woman who was diligent about her health, faithful about screenings, and had no family history, was diagnosed last year with one mass in her breast, and three masses that affected her lymph nodes. She has valiantly survived chemo, and is currently undergoing radiation in an attempt to complete eradicate the cancer. Even with the many years of progress and new technology that has increased the chances of early detection and treatment, Breast Cancer still affects far too many people—so I’m determined to be of service to the cause, by raising money and walking! I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donations, but I plan to raise much more--I hope you can be of assistance in that. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. To donate and show your support, simply click on the link below to access my Avon personal page, where you can make an online donation. If you prefer to write a check, email me your information at joliveroconnell@gmail.com, and I will send the form to you, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope so that you can easily return it.
I can’t do it without help, so I hope that I can count on your support. Thanks in advance!
