The Week That Was: The Op-Eds Have it, Jewels, Pigs, and Relationships, and a Proper Megaphone on a Serious Matter

It was a thought-provoking Week That Was for July 5-July 11, 2023

Lately the writing at both RedState and the Substack has been less newsy and political, and more op-ed oriented. There are times when I like to take a mental and emotional break from politics to dive deeper into the cultural landscape. As Andrew Breitbart said, “Politics is downstream from culture,” and there are many goings on within our cultural norms and abnorms, that beg attention and sometimes commentary.

And that includes the social media landscape, which, while not real life, distinctly amplifies some of those cultural norms and excesses.

From relationships, to patriotism, to the battle for social attention, it’s been a packed week.
