More Feckless Republicans Sacrifice Your 2nd Amendment Rights
With lots of help from Republicans, the "bipartisan" Gun Violence Bill is sailing through the Senate.
If you have to rush a vote to get a bill through, what does that say about the bill?
Nothing good, and the more I dig into this bipartisan gun violence bill, the more it proves that just because lawmakers have an R behind their name, doesn’t mean they are “republica” (for the common good). Trying to wholesale rob Americans of their Second Amendment rights through this loophole-filled garbage legislation is criminal, and Tex. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Traitor) Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Turtle), and all the Republicans who enable its passage need to be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.
I am so sick of these GOP-E lawmakers throwing law-abiding gun owners under the bus to fill their coffers and strengthen their bipartisan creds.
Jennifer Van Laar, my Managing Editor over at RedState wrote a terrific overview of this supposed gun violence prevention bill, and I recommend you go over and give it a read as she does a terrific deep dive.
But here is the pivotal paragraph for my launch:
This is a blank check to Moms Demand and Everytown, signed by Mitch McConnell and the vast majority of the GOP members of the US Senate. Given that the 10 GOP senators who are part of this Gang of 20 aren’t up for election this year and many are retiring, it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that McConnell and a number of Republican senators concocted this plan, allowing 10 members who wouldn’t face an angry electorate this November to take the PR hit.
Every effort must be made to stop this terrible bill from becoming law.
McConnell and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-Schemer) rushed through cloture on Tuesday night so they could spend Wednesday pushing it through the procedural votes and final vote. The bill has already passed the first Senate procedural vote, and none of the geniuses who analyze this stuff are thinking these spineless dweebs will do nothing more than bend over and keep voting YES.
Once the Senate finishes its hatchet to the Bill of Rights, this wholesale sellout is on its way to the House.
Fox News’ Chad Pergram did an over/under on how it could pass the House:
Pergram also had insight about how the progressive faction of the Democrats could turn out to be a wild card:
Could not imagine myself rooting for AOC and her squad to throw a hissy fit, yet, here we are.
Apparently GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise are saying they will vote NO and actively Whip against their people voting for it. We’ll see how well that goes. Remember the infrastructure bill? Thirteen Republicans voted FOR it, despite McCarthy’s song and dance.
Your best bet: Bombard both your Senator and Congress persons and demand they vote NO.
Here is the list of feckless GOP Senators. As Jennifer Van Laar mentioned above, 10 are not seeking re-election, so they are firewalled.
But the rest? Name, and Shame.
