Left-hand, Right-hand
Am I the only one who feels as though this administration has no clue what it's doing?
We are now ending August, with unemployment still at 9.5 percent and 18.4 percent of Americans either not working, or barely working. Yet, it's a big whoop that the President interrupted his vacation for a conference call with his economic team? Why is he on vacation at all? How bored is he with this job? Because "engaged" is not a word I would use to describe this President's attention to America's economy.
While Vice-President Joe Biden continues to spin the "Recovery Summer" tour that isn't, and the Fed wallows in confusion, the rest of America is wondering what planet these people are on. Karl Rove, that evil guy from the last administration that this current one was supposed to improve upon, calls it like I see it. From his Wall Street Journal article, Honey, I Shrunk My Approval Rating:
"By overselling the stimulus before its passage in 2009 and exaggerating its benefits with layer upon layer of slippery half-truths in 2010, Mr. Obama has made voters angrier. This is not America's summer of recovery; it is a summer of economic discontent that will ensure that Democrats take a pounding in the midterm elections."
One can always hope--and it's a more substantive hope than what was being peddled by our President when he was shilling for the job.
In more sunny economic news, the Dow closed below 10,000 today.
