Sergeant Aja Smith (Air Force-Ret.) is running for Congress in California’s 39th District. I had a wonderful opportunity to sit down with her and talk about Black History Month from her viewpoint as a Black woman and veteran. We discuss her family’s history of service in the armed forces, from World War II to Korea, Vietnam, and the Iraq War.
