Dear Barack Obama: We're Just Not That Into You
Many of us never were. Now that he wants to shame Black men, we're really over him.
I have been so over the treatment of the Black vote by both parties, but I have also recognized that the lack of passion by this voting bloc to demand actual policies and deliverables only deepens the electeds complacency. With the 2024 election, this appears to be finally changing—especially among Black men.
While the Republican Party has its obvious flaws, it has at least upheld manhood and the need for strong male leadership in the country as well as recognized that the men and women who pay taxes and work to maintain and build this country are not only being ignored, but railroaded. Republicans have at least implemented measures and have proposals to correct this. Not so, with Democrats. That party has spent decades ignoring their working-class voters AND Black voters. Not to mention, they have spent the last two decades marginalizing and criminalizing manhood: Black, white or otherwise. Donald Trump’s rise in 2016 was as much a backlash against this as anything. Now Black men are finally coming to this realization and throwing their support behind the former President and GOP nominee. Democrats have had an epiphany that maybe these tactics have not worked in their favor.
No… Duh.
CNN’s Scott Jennings explained this very well.

Facts, especially with Black and Hispanic men. When Vice President and selected Democrat nominee Kamala Harris chose to launch her presidential campaign with RuPaul and drag queens, what exactly did she expect would be the response? Couple that with a campaign of twerking and sycophantic celebrities, vibes and JOY without any concrete policies. This only served to show how unserious she is as a candidate, and how little interest she has in engaging or addressing Americans concerns.
But instead of recognizing this early on and correcting it, the Harris-Walz campaign double downed on their chosen narrative, and assumed that their Black Messiah, former President Barack Obama would swoop in and fix it all.

Welp. It didn’t. No one likes to be lectured, especially by a biracial fabulist whose time has long since past, who bounces between four mansions, has Secret Service protection, and vacations on billionaire’s yachts.
Former Ohio State Senator and community activist Nina Turner makes it plain that trying to shame people who have been a reliable voting bloc into voting for someone who refuses to even acknowledge their existence, is offensive, and stretches the bounds of credulity.
Other Black male influencers and politicians (Democrat and Republican) have weighed in on this as well.
Don Salmon posted on X, “My problem with President Obama lecture black men about voting for the Democrats. he only show up when time to lecture us. about voting.”
The TikToker Brazilian Black had this to say:
“I’m Black, I’m not stupid. I vote for policies. I vote for my way of living to change.”
[…]
“We do not want to vote for Kamala. We are going to continue to be a free thinker.”
[…]
“It is insulting that you decide to get up here and pander to us as Black men for not voting for Kamala Harris.”
That part.
First, it takes arrogance of an extreme magnitude to assume that you can stand on your high horse, look down your nose at Black men and make that speech. Second, it takes extreme delusion to think that doing this will move the needle in Kamala Harris’ favor.
But, this is the Democrat Party. Heavy on flash, light on actual substance. Oh, they have policies, they just know you won’t approve of them, which is why they like the smoke and mirrors approach.
Love him or hate him, at every rally and interview, every time former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump opens his mouth, he discusses what he will do for the American people and outlines how he will implement it. Trump also has the proven track record of four years in the White House. Those years were economically advantageous to a lot of Black people, and especially Black men. That’s what Black men and women remember. We also remember what Barack Obama did not do for the Black community in the 8 years of his presidency. But even more important, we know how Kamala Harris got her start in politics, choosing to sleep with a married, connected politician to gain access and curry favor of the San Francisco elites. We know that in her career as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General that Kamala Harris incarcerated Black men and women to create the illusion that she was tough on crime. Then after identifying primarily as a Southeast Asian, she decided she wanted to be a Black. It is offensive. It is demeaning, and less than 21 days from the election, it is not working.
Now the Democrat Party is desperate to regain the Black male vote that they so cavalierly threw away. Black men are rightly saying, “Miss me.”
