50 Days to 50 Years: Day 38, a Two-fer with Devon and Guyla
"The great thing about new friends is that they bring new energy to your soul." —Shanna Rodriguez
Day 38 of this 50th Days to my birthday challenge offered me a two-fer! As I'm quickly counting down, that will probably happen more often in the next month.
My first date was with beautiful Devon Young, who is a fellow instructor at CorePower Yoga.
I watched Devon move from one of our students, to Teacher Training, and then as a coach and lead of CorePower's programs. I had the great opportunity to coach with her during one of last year's Power Teacher Trainings, and hope to do so again.
Devon and I get to spend desk time together at Sherman Oaks on Wednesdays, as I teach three classes that day and she teaches two. We've had a few opportunities to spend time outside the studio with each other, so I was extremely happy she made the time to help me ring in my 50th year. We met at one of my favorite Atwater Village haunts: Village Bakery and Cafe on Los Feliz. I had a Beet Salad that was to die for, and Fried Chicken—all about the Yin and the Yang of life folks!
Devon is a bright star, with an even more stunning personality. She is even, easy-going, and a great encourager, along with just being a lot of fun! We only had an hour, but it was an hour well spent. She jetted off to teach a class in Studio City, and I jetted off to my next adventure in Burbank...

I am blessed by the wealth of faithful friends I have had in my life, and Guyla is one of them. I met Guyla through Premise, a Christians-in-entertainment prayer fellowship, and her prayer partnership in the last few years has been a tremendous help. Guyla has had her own struggles, but she is always hospitable and giving of her time and resources. She invited me to her lovely Burbank apartment for a delicious dinner of chicken breasts, spinach and Quinoa, accompanied by a nice salad. Even though I said I was not looking for gifts, she still showered me with a bouquet of daisies and a Thank You card for letting her be a part of this 50 Days to 50 Years celebration. How classy is that!

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." I am thankful for prayer, thankful for God in the midst of us, and thankful for Guyla.
